The iconic anthems of U2 have stood the test of time: for over 40 years, we’ve belted out their tunes at gigs, festivals, and even in the car as their heavy beats and inspired lyrics carry us home. And now, after all this time, you can hear their rock hits in a brand-new, pared back way. This August, make your way to a candlelit O’Reilly Theatre to hear Candlelight: U2’s Best Works – a wonderful, candlelight tribute to U2. Tickets are available now.
It’ll be a Beautiful Day on Sunday, August 14, as Avoca String Quartet round off your weekend with 60 minutes of U2 anthems, such as With or Without You, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, and Where The Streets Have No Name – all performed in a venue bathed in the soft glow of candlelight. They’ll take to the stage at 7pm and then again at 9pm, so you can choose a performance that best suits your weekend plans.
The venue for the spellbinding evening of music will be O’Reilly Theatre, which will see its wood-clad space transformed by hundreds of candles (electric, for safety). The contemporary 500-seat theatre can be found on Great Denmark Street in the heart of Dublin; the space will feel intimate with the low lighting, combined with the delicate notes of the instruments, making for a magical night. So, what are you waiting for? With or without you(r crew), snap up tickets here.
