Halloween in Ireland, the birthplace of Samhain, is for eating barmbrack with butter, carving pumpkins, and telling ghost stories. And now, thanks to the Candlelight concert series, it’s also a time for falling under the spell of a spine-tingling concert in Dublin. Discover this Candlelight Halloween Special for an evening of eerie notes and screeching violins.
At the O’Reilly Theatre on Denmark Street Great, a sea of candles will provide just enough of an unsettling glow to accompany renditions of songs like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and music from The Addams Family. It’s an evening out for all the family to enjoy if they’re brave enough!
Candlelight: Horror Movie Soundtracks
Do the titles Beetlejuice, The Exorcist, and Psycho stir up something sinister for you? Well good because this hauntingly beautiful Candlelight concert coming to Dublin in time for All Hallows’ Eve features music from these famously frightening films and more.
Revisit a few familiar, but not friendly, faces and scenes while listening to “Tubular Bells”, “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and more terrifying tunes. The skilled Castle String Quartet will leave you screaming for more at Belvedere College SJ.
While the city’s streets are lined with hollowed-out pumpkins marked by scary and sometimes comical faces, music lovers and daredevils will be hearing Danse Macabre and the Funeral March of a Marionette performed live at the O’Reilly Theatre. Musicians will be wishing them “ghastly greetings” as they put classical twists on terrifying tunes surrounded by thousands of candles.
Taking place at 9 pm on October 31, look no further than Candlelight: Horror Movie Soundtracks for the perfect alternative to trick-or-treating and bobbing for apples.
