Thinking of new stuff to do in Dublin can be difficult. Looking for something to do to make your time off work feel like a proper holiday, you need something extraordinary. Disney is teaming up with the most viral classical concert series to bring a one-of-a-kind show to Dublin.
Hosted in a historic 1843 parish church just behind Trinity College, Disney X Candlelight concerts are making their debut in Ireland. Candlelight concerts have been exceptionally well received, hosted in iconic venues like The Grand Hall. This collaboration feels especially fitting for another reason. Walt Disney himself had deep Irish roots, with his paternal grandparents hailing from Ireland.

Disney’s paternal family were Irish, specifically from Kilkenny. This heritage was not something he ever forgot about, known to wear a Claddagh ring and heavily drew upon Celtic mythology and folklore for various projects across his entertainment empire.
Perhaps one of his lesser known productions was ‘Darby O’Gill and the Little People’, where he researched the lore of the leprechauns directly from trips back to Ireland. The new concert can be viewed as a homecoming, a homage to the legend in the country he so deeply loved.
Candlelight: Disney Love Songs at St Andrews Parish Church
This concert is centered around nostalgia. Whether you were a Disney kid, have kids, or maybe your a Disney adult (no judgment there), the setlist has been curated to accommodate everyone, including music for every generation of Disney lovers.
Maybe it’s the famous spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp, or when Mrs Potts sings to Belle and the Beast as they share their elegant ballroom dance, but it’s the music from those scenes that truly curates the memory. With songs like ‘Breaking Free’, ‘A Whole New World’, ‘Kiss the Girl’, and many more, and in a church filled with thousands of candles, this promises to be a core memory.
