If you love live music, are a fan of talented musicians, and enjoy gorgeous locations bathed in ambient candlelight, then these Dublin Candlelight concerts are exactly what you need. Venues around the city will provide the most spectacular backdrop to the beautiful sounds of live musicians weaving us through a journey celebrating music we know and love. This Autumn you’ll have chances to catch shows celebrating the works of several incredibly talented musicians spanning multiple genres.
Kicking off the Dublin Candlelight concerts is Joe Hisaishi by candlelight. The name initially might not mean much to you, but you will know his compositions if you’re even slightly a fan of Japanese cinema and anime. Hisaishi is the mastermind behind the soundtracks of the vast majority of Hayao Miyazaki’s most notable works. Be prepared for music from Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and many more of Hisaishi and anime’s most iconic pieces of music. You can experience this on September 30 at St Andrew’s Parish Church, which you can book your seats for here.
Next up the candlelight concerts are heading over to The Sugar Club, there’ll be a tribute to the legendary Fleetwood Mac on October 5. Their iconic tunes will be given a more classical twist, as they are performed by a pianist and violinist duo. Expect to hear Gypsy, Go Your Own Way and Gold Dust Woman – to name just a few – in a brand-new way.
Closing out the Dublin Candlelight concerts, we’re heading back to St Andrew’s Parish Church. You’ll hear Hans Zimmer’s sensational compositions played by a talented string quartet on stage, including well-known pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, Sherlock Holmes, Gladiator, Inception, The Crown, and more. The concert takes place on October 21 and then again on November 18, and you can get your tickets here.
