The (not so) secret painters have been doing some great work.
Many of us have spent June lamenting the fact that we can’t have the usual fun we’re used to during Pride month 2021. Nothing can really replace that, but touches like this showing solidarity with the LGBTQ+ are great all the same.
To add to it’s shiny new outdoor dining space, Capel Street now has a beautiful rainbow walk to mark Pride in Dublin this year.
The colourful art covers the crossing just outside Pantibar on Capel Street, and was painted overnight by the Dublin City Council traffic section. It’s believed to be the first of its kind in Ireland.
DCC have said that “If, as expected, the rainbow walk on Capel St is deemed a success, the City Council plans to paint more rainbow walks in other city-centre locations next week.”
Capel Street’s paint is part of a wide programme from the Office of Recovery, for the proactive restart of social, cultural and economic life.
All we can say is that we’d love for more of these bright colours to fill the streets of Dublin.
