Christmas relaxation of rules could end earlier.
Taoiseach Michael Martin has warned that he Christmas restriction relaxing could end earlier than initially planned.
Previously, it had been said the temporary rules would last until January 6. However, a cabinet meeting has been scheduled for December 28 to reassess the situation as it goes on.
So, if you have plans with bigger groups past this date, be sure to keep an eye our for any changes. Worsening Covid-19 rates across Europe means the data is being closely watched, and may bring about an early end to the relaxed rules.
Intercountry travel is reopening on Friday, and is to be allowed until January 6 under current rules. This will allow people to see loved ones over the Christmas period.
More updates will follow after any new announcements.
