The idea of camping is appealing to some and appalling to others but you can experience the great outdoors with a proper roof over your head at one of these stunning glamping sites in Ireland. These five sites are comfortable, warm, and close enough to Dublin that you don’t have to board a flight or deal with a long journey to get there – but the real bonus? They have all the creature comforts of a hotel within the great outdoors.
1. Rock Farm Slane
📍Rock Farm, Slane, Co. Meath, C15 FNP4
The glamping tents at Rock Farm in Slane are nicer than my actual bedroom, and I bet the bed is comfier too. The farm’s located close to Slane Castle and it is right by the river, which makes for the most spectacular views. There’s a hot tub on site. plus a communal kitchen, barbecue area, and even an outdoor pizza oven. It’s so beautiful that people even get married on the site!
2. The Old Forge Glamping
📍Munny House, Money Upper, Munny Upper, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
The Old Forge Glamping is located between Shillelagh in County Wicklow and Tullow in County Carlow, where there is plenty to do and see. There are only four yurts on site so it’s the perfect place to get away from the city for a bit and enjoy the beautiful Wicklow scenery.
3. Mount Druid Glamping
📍Mount Druid, Castletown, Castletown Geoghegan, Co. Westmeath, Ireland
This place really is something special and it’s incredibly popular as a very fashionable wedding venue. Here you can stay in a converted double-decker bus complete with vintage furniture, a beautiful little cottage, a yurt, and even a tin hut. The most appealing thing about it though is the fully functional onsite bar!
4. Glamping Under The Stars
📍Cullenagh, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, R32 WP7V, Ireland
There are two stunning Glamping Underneath The Stars glamping sites, and each has its own character. The mountain hobbit village features charming little hobbit holes with their own ensuite bathrooms and chimineas. They have lovely glass ceilings so that you can see the stars in the evening. The second is the meadow campsite with its beautiful wooden lodges and shepherd’s huts.
5. Butterfly Valley Glamping
📍Grennan Farmhouse, Grennan, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny
In the breathtaking Kilkenny countryside sits Butterfly Valley Glamping. You can stay in a wooden pod, bell tent, and even a cute little caravan with an onsite kitchen and campfire. You can take the scenic river walk to Thomastown or head to the beautiful Kilfane Waterfall easily. There are plenty of things to do in and around the campsite.
