Summer is officially over, and those long summer nights are definitely winding down…
Tonight (October 1), Dublin’s sunset will be at 7.01pm — and it will be the last sunset on or after 7pm until March 2022! According to tracking site Time And Date, the sun will bid farewell at one-minute past seven, making it the last of the year. October 2 will enjoy a measly 6.59pm sunset, really marking down Autumn in full swing!
Of course, days won’t be quite as short as they will be after the clocks go back later in the month, but they will get darker much faster. The next 7pm Sunday will come when we sacrifice an hour’s kip for longer days at the end of March 2022, when we wave goodbye to daylight savings for another seven months.
Along with the shortening days, Dublin is predicted to see some low temperatures and rain showers, so we can’t say we’re too happy about all that’s going on in the sky right now. Buy hey, Autumn brings with it the colourful leaves, beautiful scenery and crisp air, so it’s not all bad. Summer ’21, we barely knew you!
