8,000 kilometres: that’s the rough distance between Ireland and Latin America. However, for one weekend this February, you’ll be able to experience the jubilant Latin American lifestyle much closer to home. Ritmo Latino, an indoor festival dedicated to Latin American culture, will take over Dublin City Council’s Victorian Wholesale Fruit Vegetable And Flower Market between February 24–25. We’re talking live bands, captivating dancers in vibrant outfits, and more caipirinhas than you can shake a straw at…
What can you expect at Ritmo Latino?
Ritmo Latino aims to give Dubliners a taste of authentic Latin American culture, bringing together some of the best talent in art, music, food and drink. At the festival, artists hailing from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile and Colombia will sing and perform traditional folklore and current day music; there’ll be a DJ on site to keep the good vibes flowing in between the sets. Elsewhere, artists will exhibit striking photography and vivid paintings.
If all the incredible art and music sound like a feast for the senses, wait until you hear about the actual feasts you can indulge in. A selection of much loved local food trucks will be setting up shop at Ritmo Latino for the weekend, so you can dive into plates full of tacos, burritos, empanadas, tequeños, nachos, and much more. And what meal would be complete without a caipirinha or mojito (or three) thrown in for good measure?
Young or old, all ages are invited to step out of the grey Irish winter for a few hours and into the bold, bright world of Ritmo Latino.
