2020 was the year of working from home for many.
And, judging by what we’ve seen and heard so far, that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. [Featured Image: Glenn Carstens-Peters, Unsplash].
Research has shown that 94% of people in Ireland are working from home as it stands. Plus, this could even continue long after everybody is vaccinated against Covid-19.
That’s because the government have announced their new Remote Work Strategy, which gives employees the legal right to work from home on a more permanent level.
This new strategy is set to commence in September. It requires employers to provide good reasons as to why someone cannot work from home. There will also be an appeal process in the “Workplace Relations Committee” if employees are not happy with the reasoning.
The project will also see an investment in remote working hubs around the country, plus a potential view in speeding up the national broadband plan.
So, WFH might just be a bigger part of the future than we realise!
