Unlike many other capital cities, there is no main Dublin Christmas Market but rather lots of Christmas markets dotted around the city. Some open for the entirety of the festive season and others for a day or two.
Some are hosted in stunning castles and others in the streets of villages and towns. This year, there’s even a Christmas circus coming to town so whatever you’re looking for, there are plenty of Christmas markets in Dublin to choose from!
1. Botanic Gardens Christmas Market
📍 Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin
Head to the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin between December 10-11 for some sustainable gifts and produce. From Christmas decorations to bars of soap and jewelry, plus seasonal food and drink, you’ll find loads of great stalls to explore between 10 am – 4 pm and it’s completely free to attend, just like the gardens.
Dublin Castle Christmas Market was the only one to open last year, albeit with strict social distancing measures, and it’s back this year! From December 8-21 you can visit this 30 stall market with entertainment every weekend from Irish and English language choirs.
As usual, the way into the market will be lined with illuminated Christmas trees and there will be plenty of delicious food stalls on hand to satisfy any hungry tummies. You can register here for tickets, which are completely free.
3. Santa’s Christmas Circus, Howth Castle
📅December 9 – January 8
💶€15 per person
From December 9-January 8, an incredible festive experience will take up residence at Howth Castle. There will be a stunning, Bavarian style Christmas market alongside an exciting fairground, all lit up and full of fantastic rides.
The fun doesn’t end there because there will also be a Christmas circus to keep everybody entertained and even a post box where kids can post their letters to Santa. Tickets are €15 per person but you can also buy family tickets and the price depends on where you’d like to sit during the circus performance.
4. Rathfarnham Castle Christmas Market
The gorgeous Rathfarnham Castle makes the perfect setting for one of Dublin’s most charming Christmas markets. This year you’ll be able to visit stalls from local producers selling warm drinks, delicious treats and home made gifts.
It’s a one day only affair so make sure you visit between 10 am-3 pm on December 10. Plus, it’s completely free and you don’t need tickets!
5. Bremore Castle Christmas Market
📅December 4, 11 and 18
We’ve missed the first date for the Dublin Christmas market at Bremore Castle in Balgriggan but there are still three left to attend, on December 4, 11 and 18. This year there are loads of Christmas markets taking place in castles, and like many of the others the Bremore Castle market will open between 10 am – 4 pm.
It’s completely free to visit and there’s also free parking onsite. Plus, the stalls will be filled with fantastic local products, produced by local people and businesses.
6. Scoil Bhríde – Cailíní Christmas market
📍Scoil Bhríde – Cailíní
Another of the fantastic Christmas markets in Dublin this year is the one taking place at Scoil Bhríde – Cailíní in Blanchardstown on December 10-11. This ‘Urban Christmas Market’ will take place in the village itself and you can expect to see plenty of friendly faces manning the stalls.
There will be delicious hot food and treats, plus plenty of hand made products, perfect for gifts if you haven’t finished your Christmas shopping. It’s a fantastic place to shop local and there will be live entertainment on both days.
There are plenty of magical Christmas markets in Dublin to choose from this year, each offering a different experience. Whether you’re looking for a small, local market or something much bigger and flashier, this year we have tons of fantastic options to choose from.
