For the first time ever, hit musical Hamilton will come to Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre. Performances are set to begin on September 17, 2024 and this will be the first performance ever in Dublin.
Readers will likely remember the storm by which this groundbreaking musical took the world, winning eight Drama Desk Awards. Critical acclaim has poured in since and Hamilton was nominated for an astonishing sixteen awards at the Tony Awards winning eleven.
It can also lay claim to seven Olivier Awards and it has even been translated into German for a show in Hamburg. Now it’s Dublin’s turn to see this spectacular musical live and tickets are sure to sell out quickly.
Hamilton follows the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton who began life as an orphan and became one of the most politically important people in American history. He remains so, even to this day.
It’s a tale of romance, revolution and a brutal war. Hamilton’s personal life and colossal events like the Revolutionary War and subsequent 1800 United States presidential election weave together to form an unforgettable plot.
Miranda has described Hamilton as: ‘America then, as told by America now.’ Notably, Hamilton has always featured several African American actors playing roles as Founding Fathers. The music is also heavily influenced by modern musical genres like hip hop, R&B and pop.
