The 2022 list of restaurants in Ireland and the United Kingdom with Michelin stars has just been revealed and Dublin’s absolutely brimming with them! A grand total of 6 amazing Dublin restaurants have either retained or gained stars this year, which reflects the fantastic culinary scene in this city. So what makes these places so special?
1. Variety Jones ⭐
📍78 Thomas Street, Dublin City, D08 F2RN
This stunning restaurant on Thomas Street has retained its Michelin star this year and we can see why. Here much of the food is cooked on an open fire, giving it a delicious, smokey flavour and the menu is split into different categories: snacks, cold, warm, pasta, mains and afters.
2. Bastible ⭐
📍Leonard’s Corner, 111 S Circular Rd, Portobello, D08 RW2K
This incredible Irish restaurant is named after the bastible pot, a pot used to bake bread in Ireland. Here they still use a bastible to bake bread and they also use high quality, locally sourced Irish ingredients and that’s part of the reason why they’ve gained a Michelin star this year. The food is very modern, featuring bold flavours balanced beautifully.
3. Glovers Alley ⭐
📍127-128 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin City, D02 HE18
Glovers Alley is as chic as can be, decorated in warm, brown tones with sleek marble tabletops. The food is just as stylish as the decor, if not more so and this year their hard work has paid off because they’ve gained a Michelin star.
4. Patrick Guilbaud ⭐⭐
📍21 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin City, D02 KF79
This stunning Irish restaurant has been around for 41 years and has managed to retain 2 Michelin stars, which is no mean feat! You can expect to taste both classic French flavours and Irish ingredients if you eat here, and there’s an extensive wine cellar so you can pair it perfectly with your meal (or ask the waiter to).
5. Liath ⭐⭐
📍Blackrock Market, 19a Main Street, Blackrock, A94 V0D8
Within the beautiful Blackrock Market you’ll find the stylish Liath, which has this year gained a Michelin star, bringing its total to 2! If you visit earlier in the evening you can eat the 3-course menu, and later in the evening there’s a full ‘surprise tasting menu’, which sounds so exciting!
6. Chapter One by Mickael Viljanen ⭐⭐
📍18-19 Parnell Square North, Rotunda, Dublin City, D01 T3V87
Finnish chef Mickael Viljanen uses classical, French methods of cooking and this year his skill has been recognised as the restaurant gained another Michelin star, bringing their total to 2. Here you can sit at the chef’s table and watch them work, which sounds utterly mesmerising.
