Baz Luhrmann’s smash-hit musical Strictly Ballroom will sweep audiences off their feet during the new 2023 tour, coming to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from May 29 to June 3. Strictly Come Dancing fans will also be happy to hear that champion Kevin Clifton stars as Scott Hastings and EastEnders star, while Dancing on Ice finalist and Coronation Street star, Faye Brookes, is starring in the lead female role of Fran.
The 10 month tour is directed by the one and only Craig Revel Horwood and choreographed by both the director and Strictly Come Dancing’s Creative Director, Jason Gilkison. The tour is set to visit almost 40 venues before culminating in Bristol in July 2023, delighting audiences all over the the country. The foxtrotting show is based on the award-winning film ‘Strictly Ballroom’ that inspired the immensely popular smash hit TV series Strictly Come Dancing, that airs all around the world today.
Strictly Ballroom: The Musical tells the tale of Scott Hastings, a full of talent, egotistical and turbulent young ballroom dancer. Scott ends up falling out with the Australian Federation with his experimental dance moves, he begins a journey of dance with Fran, a beginner with zero experience. The pair is inspired by one another to then defy both convention and their families and discover that, their moves don’t need to be as strictly policed after all to win.
