These boxes look stunning!
Nothing says summer more than bright colours filling the streets to match the season. And this artistic project is aiming to give just that to County Dublin. [Featured Image: @Dublin Canvas. Artist: Juliette O’Brien].
Dublin Canvas, which began in 2015, initially created 15 colourful boxes scattered around the areas of Rathmines, Camden Street and Baggot Street. This summer, they’re looking for their idea to soar across the city, with over 100 beautiful new box designs planned.
Plus, we haven’t even got to the best part yet. Your design could be brightening up the boxes, as Dublin Canvas are on the lookout for local artists to help them carry out their project.
They made a call out for artists on their Instagram page, saying: “Dublin Canvas is currently seeking artists to participate in this Summer’s project. This Year’s Callout will consist of 100 boxes spread out over County Dublin.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to have your artwork displayed to the public in prime locations throughout the greater Dublin area. Completed artwork will brighten up and turn these once dull, heavily tagged boxes into beautiful works of art, transforming County Dublin into a walking gallery of public art.
“Artists and community groups who wish to participate and paint one of these available boxes should visit www.dublincanvas.com/paint for full details on how to apply.”
Dublin Canvas is slated to run during the summer, finishing in the early autumn time. Artists can apply until May 21, with the selection process taking place between May 24 and June 18.
