Out with the 5km, in with the 20km.
After months of living in our little 5km bubble, people in Ireland can finally wander a little further.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin confirmed that the 5km rule has been relaxed, meaning we can now venture up to 20km away from our permanent residence.
This great news was announced alongside other lockdown restrictions being lifted, which will come into play from Monday April 12.
Other big changes include the announcement that up to two households can now meet up outdoors, or indoors if they have all been vaccinated.
Plus, from April 12, construction work will resume, with a phased return of builders being allowed back to work.
It was also confirmed that more changes would happen on April 26. From this date, some outdoor sites, such as Dublin Zoo can reopen; numbers allowed to attend a funeral service will increase from 10 to 25; and children’s team sports will be allowed to resume.
Any more news on loosened or heightened restrictions will follow as they are announced.
