Ireland Has One Of The Most Powerful Passports Globally For 2022

Irish citizens can rejoice because they hold one of the world’s most powerful passports. This ranking is based on The Henley Passport Index, and includes 199 different passports and 227 travel destinations.

The passports are ranked using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), based on how many countries their holders can travel to without a visa prior to arrival. Passport holders in Ireland can travel to a whopping 187 countries without a visa, putting the country in fifth place alongside Portugal.

Singapore and Japan took the top spot, with Germany and South Korea coming in second. Meanwhile, Spain, Italy, Finland, and Luxembourg tied for third place, with access to 189 countries. According to the Index, Afghanistan ranks as the worst passport in the world, with access to just 26 countries.
