There is nothing more soothing than hearing the soft purr of a tiny kitten but if you don’t have a cat yourself but crave their company you can always head to Purr Cafe for some quality cat time. This incredible cat rescue centre is also a vegan cafe, serving up delicious, plant-based bakes for you to enjoy whilst contributing to Purr Cafe’s no-kill rescue mission.
Purr Cafe rescues cats that have been abandoned or were born on the street, from tiny kittens to elderly cats who may never have known the comforts of a loving home. At the cat cafe, you can get to know the cats and they’re up for adoption so you may well find your next furry companion.
The cats have a great life at the centre whilst awaiting their forever homes and you can relax in a viewing room connected to the cats’ playroom. This enables the cats to come to you, which we all know is the basis of good cat-human relationships. After all, cats do everything on their own terms (mine basically owns my house and lets me live there).
Volunteers work so hard to feed, medicate and socialise the cats and the cat cafe opened on Valentines Day last year. The cafe chose this day ‘to show [its] deep, passionate and unconditional love for felines everywhere’ – what a beautiful sentiment.
It’s not just the cats that are well taken care of at Purr Cafe. There’s a selection of delicious vegan cakes so tasty that they rival anything you can get in Dublin city centre, vegan or non-vegan. Every day there’s something different on offer and what better way to enjoy the company of cats than with cake?
You’ll also find savoury options like soup, salads and sandwiches to munch on, and you can wash it all down with hot or cold drinks. It’s only open on Fridays (11 am – 7 pm), Saturdays (11 am – 6 pm) and Sundays (11 am – 6 pm) but you can secure yourself a spot on the website and you’ll find Purr Cafe at 31a Brunswick Street North, Smithfield, Dublin, D07 RW97.
